HOW WE LIVE INCLUSION
The Wheels of Steel area is just one of many examples of inclusion in practice at Wacken Open Air. Find out more about how we tackle this topic as a whole.
MORE QUESTIONS? ANSWERS CAN BE FOUND IN THE FAQ.
Yes, your permanent companion may attend the festival free of charge if your disabled person's pass shows the “B” mark. We will check this when you book your pitch and issue a companion ticket. You will receive your festival wristband and an extra Wheels of Steel Area wristband upon presentation of your festival ticket, disabled pass and companion ticket on site.
Important: Be honest when booking your parking space! If there is no “B” in your disabled pass, the companion ticket will lose its validity.
As you know, the festival takes place on a field. Therefore, we cannot guarantee 100% accessibility, as much as we would like to. In the Wheels of Steel area, however, there will definitely be accessible shower/toilet containers and accessible mobile toilets for you. Further accessible toilets can be found all over the festival site. You can find out exactly where in the site plan, which we will publish shortly beforehand.
Another tip: In the sanitary camp S2 we offer you a station for cleaning wheelchairs and rollators. Please make use of this service - especially when the floor is wet - so that the shower drains do not get blocked.
You must have the B, G, aG, H, BL markings on it to be able to book pitches in the Wheels of Steel area.
Alsterarbeit is a cooperation partner of ours that is present in the Wheels of Steel area between 10:00 and 22:00 with a service point. This is located directly at the main entrance and offers, among other things, repairs and maintenance for assistive devices at cost price, a rental service for wheelchairs and walkers and physiotherapy. Find out more about Alsterarbeit.
Camping chairs, tripod, and cardboard stools and self-made aids are not allowed in the infield. You should register everything else with Alsterarbeit in advance.
Sure, how else are you supposed to transport your medication and aids? However, they must be registered before the festival and checked and labeled at the Alsterarbeit Service Point after your arrival. A size of 30cm x 20cm x 5cm is specified. If other dimensions are necessary for health reasons, it is best to clarify this directly on site. Before the festival you can reach Alsterarbeit by e-mail at wacken@alsterarbeit.de
You must have a certificate with you for all medicines that fall under the Narcotics Act. It is also essential to register these before the festival by e-mail to Alsterarbeit at wacken@alsterarbeit.de
