Should I come with the public transport instead of my car?

No. Please stop your journey to Wacken and return home. There is a total admission stop.

I am on Site

Will the programme run as planned? Or will some acts be canceled?

Will do everything possible to run a full programme and decide on a day-to-day basis together with the authorities.

How long can I stay?

Will do everything possible to run a full programme.

What facilities will be open for me? Food / drink / showers etc.

All facilities on site are operating normally and are open. Due to the persistently difficult weather conditions with rainfall amounts of approximately 40 liters per square meter in the last days, and the resulting condition of the camping areas, event areas and the access roads there might be interruptions on day-to-day business of individual facilities.

I am currently in a traffic jam in the immediate vicinity

Will I be allowed to go on site?

No, there is a total admission stop.

What if I want to go home?

If you prefer to not enter the festival, please follow the steward directions. We will provide information on your ticket soon. If you are already on site at this point, leaving the camping areas with your vehicle might not be possible due to the persistently difficult weather conditions. 

Stewards telling it will be canceled. 

For those metalheads already on site, we do everything possible to run a full programme.

Police recommend arriving later.

The travel stop for the Wacken Open Air must unfortunately remain in place. Due to this extraordinary situation, please refrain from further journeys to Wacken. For the latest arrival information please follow W:O:A Official channels.

I’m not at Hungriger Wolf yet - can I still come and park there, then go to the festival each day?

No. We reached full capacity at Hungriger Wolf.

Can I still camp or park at Volksparkstadion?

No.

Can I stay here for another day and then return home?

Yes.

Can I come to the festival?

Until further notice, Hungriger Wolf is established as a permanent WOA 2023 campsite. Metalheads who are currently parked at the Hungriger Wolf site are asked to stay at this location for the duration of the festival. Please exchange your wristbands there immediatly. Food, drink and sanitation are provided there.  We are working on a solution to get you to the festival.

Can I stay here for another day to see if the weather improves?

Until further notice, Hungriger Wolf is established as a permanent WOA 2023 campsite. Metalheads who are currently parked at the Hungriger Wolf site are asked to stay at this location for the duration of the festival.

How long can I stay here?

The Hungriger Wolf campsite, in line with festival openings, will operate until 12 pm on Sunday 6 August. Food and beverage as well as sanitation facilities are provided there.

How can I pay at Hungriger Wolf? 

At Hungriger Wolf, you can only pay with cash.

I am at the train station waiting for shuttle bus

What should I do?

Will do everything possible to stick to the programm, nevertheless we are not able to stick to timelines due to the traffic jam. The event shuttle service from Itzehoe to Wacken will operate throughout the festival. Shuttle operations is subject to traffic conditions. Please check the schedule.

Should I start my travel by train at all?

If you are already traveling by long distance train, we will do our best to assist you in getting there. Please stay home or stop / cancel your journey with immediate effect.

I am on coach travelling to the festival

What should I do?

Official festival coach services continue to operate throughout the festival.

As an operator, can we bring our passengers to the bus station?

The coach station is operating normally as the access is on the main road close to the festival entrance.

I am at Hamburg Airport

What should I do?

If you are planning to rent a car at Hamburg airport, unfortunately we cannot welcome you at the festival in 2023 as the campgrounds are not able to accept any more vehicles.

Are there parking facilities available for day visitors?

No day parking available for guests. Please do not drive to Wacken. 

Outflow

How will you manage the outflow of cars? 

Our teams on site will support all metalheads to leave the festival grounds safely. Please read also our Departure Information

What is the advice to “Wheels of Steel” guests?

For Metalheads with access needs planning to use our Wheels of Steel area, we are aware that the muddy and wet conditions could reduce your enjoyment of the festival. As such please contact our customer support team if you prefer not to attend. 

E-Cars

What to do with my electric car? Where can I charge it?

There are no electric chargers available on site - please ensure you have topped up your charge before arrival. If you have a flat battery, please ask one of our stewards in the campgrounds for assistance.

Refund

How does the refund for unused tickets work?

Full information regarding tickets held by metalheads that are unable to attend this year will be published soon.

I want to keep my ticket and come next year - is that possible?

A ticket rollover is not possible.

Is a refund after the ticket exchange possible?
No. Sadly this is not possible.

Is partial refund of the ticket possible if I only can experience the festival partly?

Refund Cashless:

As announced, you can apply for a refund of your cashless payment credit via our event portal (also accessible via the app) sindce Monday, August 7th from 6:00 p.m. This will be credited to you within 14 days at the latest.
As promised, we have now also found a solution for those of you who have ordered drinks (pallet of beer, water, etc.). The respective amounts spent have already been credited to your cashless payment balance, so that you can now request the total amount simply with a mouse click.

Will the situation change? Can I come on Friday and Saturday?
