Hyped for Wacken!
The band - composed of Maik, Cajetan, Daniel, and Nic - is bringing fresh energy to the Metal scene. They call the inclusive network barner 16 their home - a creative platform for artists with and without disabilities.
Last year, they made history as the first inclusive band to shake up the Holy Ground
Barner 16 operates under Alsterarbeit GmbH, which belongs to the Evangelische Stiftung Alsterdorf. For several years, Alsterarbeit played a key role in the Wheels of Steel Area at the festival, providing valuable support for people with disabilities.
“It’s an amazing feeling to finally stand on this stage ourselves!” the band shares.
“It was absolutely insane!”
Among the crowd, you were able to spot proud fans showcasing the band’s shirts and patches on their battle vests. The mosh pit was packed, and headbanging was in full force throughout the show.
But Amalgam didn’t only deliver a rock-hard performance – they also proved that inclusion in Metal isn’t just possible, it’s essential. Inclusion means that diversity is no longer treated as an exception but instead becomes a natural part of everyday life.
Above all, the four-piece identifies as a band – regardless of disability or non-disability.
