Countdown to W:O:A 2022
Dear Metalheads,
Let's not beat around the bush: 2021 did not go as expected. For the second year in a row, we were unable to organise an event and welcome you here. But instead of lamenting what could have been, we'd rather look ahead.
So this year is coming to an end and we would like to let you know that the course is set for the Wacken Open Air 2022. We will now explain what that means in detail.
We' re heading for "Zombieland" again
Again this year, we would like to celebrate Halloween together with you. That's why we and Hämatom invite you to "Live from Zombieland Vol.2" on 31.10. from 20:00! For this evening, the band has come up with a few nice surprises and, in keeping with this date, we will announce the line-up of the Night to Dismember. Especially fans of extreme metal should therefore mark this day blood red in their calendars.
You can join in the celebrations on the Wacken Open Air Facebook page, where we will be broadcasting the whole spectacle live from 8pm on Sunday 31 October.
Bands, bands, bands:
Our booking department has been working hard, with bands like Slipknot, Judas Priest, Till Lindemann and Mercyful Fate already confirmed as highlights. But that's not all, of course, because we will be presenting new bands on at least five other occasions in the coming months!
As every year, the 1st of December will see the start of our popular Advent calendar on wacken.com. As last year, there will be new bands for the festival on the three Advent Sundays in December, as well as on Christmas Eve. Additionally, you can win great prizes every day from 1 December to 24 December, as in the past.
Planning of the festival:
Busy work is going on behind the scenes on the realisation of W:O:A 2022, the planning and considerations in the various departments are in full swing. But we also want to involve you again. For example, the resumption of the W:O:A Rethink Talks is being planned for November, where we meet with fans to discuss the festival in detail and in a relaxed atmosphere. This group, your ambassadors, so to speak, has been expanded once again in order to be able to take other perspectives into account and include them in our thinking.
But we do not only want to hear these voices, which is why we are planning a big survey among all ticket holders for W:O:A 2022, for which we would already like to ask you for your support.
If you have visited Wacken Open Air before, you know that we usually do such a survey after every festival. But now that two years have passed without an Open Air event, we would like to know what you expect from your return to the Holy Ground. In other words, this survey is your big chance to help shape the Wacken Open Air 2022 according to your wishes.
Tickets and other offers:
The festival is sold out, but there is still a lot to do when it comes to tickets. We are currently working on the ticket exchange, where you can give away any excess tickets you have bought to metalheads who are looking for those. This will be made possible by a new function in the ticket centre, so you will no longer have to deal with more or less serious offers on the internet to buy or sell a ticket - and we urge you all to wait for our official ticket exchange!
At this point, we would like to point out once again that small ticket contingents are still available from our travel partners all over the world.
In addition, we are working with our travel partners and the Camper Park Wacken to expand the existing offers (e.g. the popular Moshtel) and develop additional offers for you.
On site in Wacken:
Even outside the festival, our village is always worth a visit, especially from the 2nd until and including the 4th of December 2021. Because that's when the annual Christmas special sale takes place in our shops in Wacken!
In all other weeks, the store at Hauptstraße 82 is open from Thursday to Saturday. Our outlet store at Hauptstraße 29 is open every Saturday.
But the owners of the other shops in Wacken are always happy to welcome metalheads too!
What else?
As you may have noticed, we have resumed activities such as the W:O:A blood donation, and are also working on new features such as an optimised reward system.
Our cooperation with institutions such as the DKMS and the WWF is also going full steam ahead, and we were pleased to receive a lot of support from you for our efforts in terms of health and sustainability.
Our "Best Of Harry Metal" series on Wacken TV will also continue. We are still a long way from 2019 here, so there are still many fantastic entertaining videos waiting for you. We are also working on a continuation of formats like "You Metal?".
Last but not least: In addition to products that were already planned for the Christmas season (such as Advent calendars), some items that were actually planned for the summer are also arriving. The logistics chaos caused by the pandemic, the Suez Canal crisis and material bottlenecks has also had an impact on our supply chains and upset our planning.
Therefore, don't be surprised if, for example, new beach chairs are presented soon - actually, these were supposed to serve as seating at W:O:A 2021.
As you can see, autumn and winter will be anything but boring with us.
Thank you for your support in these difficult times - see you all in Wacken in 2022!
Your W:O:A Team
