The W:O:A 2015 is history
Mud, rain, cold nights, but also team spirit, sunshine and fantastic heavy metal – the now closed chapter of the 26th Wacken Open Air has been a festival of extremes. There is only one thing that we have to say about this:
THANX FOR YOUR SUPPORT METALHEADS!!
Considering the horrible weather conditions before and during your arrival and the difficult situation of the ground on the camping sites and the festival area, you support, understanding, and unshakable positive humour have literally blown us away. #keeptogether #holdon
You have confirmed our awareness that: We can only organise the greatest metal fest on this planet with your help year after year!
Each crew from every trade has at times worked around the clock to get you safely onto the grounds, prepare the Holy Ground, and to organise alternative parking space and possibilities for camping. Luckily for all of us, weather conditions improved drastically towards the end of the festival week, which meant a grand finish with many memorable shows.
As in previous years, 75.000 guests with paid tickets and additionally 9.500 other participants such as artists, service provider, suppliers, our mega-crew of all trades, media, VIPs, rescue workers, security forces and law enforcement, public authorities and our „Full Metal Villagers“.
Many highlights and fabulous shows:
The glorious parallel concert of Savatage and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra with both line-ups together on the two main stages was not only a world premiere, but also turned out to be one of the most impressive festival moments.
This massive performance over two hours has done nothing less than writing music history!
After ten long years of absence at first Savatage celebrated their resurrection, next up the Trans-Siberian Orchestra triumphed, and at the grand finale both bands played simultaneously the same songs on both stages. Madness!
Once gain the festival area offered many novelties and surprises:
The new Metaltown area offered a party space outside the official opening times. Furthermore the wristband exchange has been re-structured and enlarged. On several spots the new „Stargate“-portals marked fix points to aid orientation.
On top of this, the Movie and Soccer Fields have been moved outside the security controlled area as your feedback suggested. This also applied to the lockers and mobile phone loading stations.
Important!: We are of course always glad to receive your feedback, suggestions for improvements and constructive criticism via Facebook and our online-survey. These will be evaluated and taken into account for our future planning to improve the Wacken Open Air further according to your wishes. There are always many small things that contribute to the success of this festival. Many thanks!
Last but not least we wish to thank all inhabitants and citizens of the communities of Wacken, Gribbohm, Holstenniendorf, Besdorf, Bokelrehm, Bokhorst, Nienbüttel, Agethorst, Vaale, and Nutteln, who have welcomed all metal fans and us with their unique as well as heartfelt hospitality – especially during the severe weather conditions early in the festival week. Furthermore they have been gladly supporting the bannering of their towns. We are thrilled to receive such strong support and identification with your and our festival!!
Summaries and media reports concerning the W:O:A 2015 will be posted soon as well as pictures from our official festival photographers in our picture gallery.
The festival is the headliner, and the bands play their best!
We are looking forward much to the next year, when it will say for the 27th time:
Faster - Harder - Louder >> See you in Wacken 2016 - rain or shine <<
Thanks for your support, Metalheads! In Metal we Trust!
Your W:O:A-Team
