Wacken 2013 is History
Dear Metalheads!
The last W:O:A before the big Anniversary is now part of our history and left a lot of very cool memories of our legendary festival - especially the best fans in the world and tremendously good bands with outstanding performances.
Wacken was as always – EXTREME: After the bad weather situation last year we were able to start with “SHINE” into the festival weekend on Thursday. Sun and good mood instead of rain defined the weekend.
We would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support, because without you we would not be what we are: The biggest Heavy Metal festival in the world! Thank you so much! You are amazing!
Some things were new this year, for example the main stages which were bigger. The most impressive one by far was obviously the new “Bullhead”. After the old Bullhead was sent into its well-deserved retirement we created a new one which now crowns the 2 main stages. It´s size is 12,5 meters wide, and 10 meters high. Further we have improved the infrastructure, the FOH and delay towers have been optimized and the area was improved with sometimes bigger and sometimes smaller changes.
But also online we got some new appearances and features like Wacken FanMail – the first and only heavy metal mail service, WackenTV - our brand new YouTube channel and last but not least the W:O:A Food Award which for the first time gave all metalheads the possibility to vote the best W:O:A food stand of the year.
As last year, we had 75.000 paying visitors (sold out in September!) plus around 9.500 additional participants like artists, service provider, our awesome crew, press and media people, the so-called VIPs, medical and security teams and our “Full Metal Village inhabitants”
Please note: We look forward to your feedback and suggestions in our forum, facebook and the online survey. Subsequently they´ll be evaluated, published and taken into account for additional plans. Thank you very much!
We would also like to express our gratitude towards all the residents of the Wacken community, Gribbohm, Holstenniendorf, Besdorf, Bokelrehm, Bokhorst, Nienbüttel and Agethorst. They have shown great hospitality and we appreciated their support and identification with your/our festival.
Additional reports from W:O:A 2013 will follow, as well as the photo gallery.
The festival is the headliner and the bands play their best-of set!
We are looking forward to the next year when for the 25th time it‘s
Faster - Harder - Louder >> See you in Wacken 2014 - rain or shine <<
Thanks for your support, Metalheads!
Your W:O:A Team
